Working as a shooting director, location sound recordist, camera operator, multi-format video editor, producer, production manager and writer Tim Lewis produces documentary films for a wide range of international charities, government agencies and the arts sector. His experience also includes broadcast and corporate pieces, ranging from events and promos, channel idents, glossy celebrity portraits to feature length documentaries for clients such as Amnesty International, the Ford Foundation, European Union, DFID, United Nations, British Film Council, Essential Cinema, the BBC, National Geographic, Discovery, Arte, Ushuaïa TV and Sky.
Much of his work, especially with Handcrafted Films concerning indigenous and traditional peoples, has taken him to often difficult and challenging locations around the world; be it the rainforests of South East Asia, Central and South America as well as West and Central Africa. Working in a diverse array of settings interviewing political refugees on the Thai-Burma border, filming in the cockpit of Air France’s last surviving Concorde, climbing volcanoes and glaciers in Iceland or following civil rights campaigners through war torn Liberia and the Congo. He is a co-director of Handcrafted Films Ltd.
