I want to go through my photographic archive a little more comprehensively over the coming months and find the pictures especially the portraits which satisfy me the most. I want to explore the unique faces, the personalities, the human, us and time, which are conveyed in that moment when the shutter is depressed. A private photograph taken in the smoky kitchen of Chief Raymundus’ house after a busy breakfast. Everyone else had withdrawn to the outside to drink coffees and chat. I hung back and got this lovely intimate portrait of a proud grandma with her granddaughter. We were filming the story of how they had stood alone against developers and loggers for many decades, bravely preserving their ancestral land from destruction.
