Indonesia – Mentawai Shaman prayer

On Siberut Island we were enormously fortunate to get the blessing of a local shaman to record their trance-like prayers where they communicate with the ancestors. We filed respectively into his small house and as the sounds of the night time jungle penetrated the thin earthen walls he sang a number of sacred prayers. It was a moving and inspiring moment. The wonderful photograph is by Joel Redman.
